Szarvas Arboretum

About 3 hours to the southwest is a pleasant little town called Szarvas which means 'stag', as in a male deer.  We decided to day-trip to the south, in the hopes of finding a warmer climate where it was not raining.  Also there is an arboretum there, and a garden of miniature models of famous places in Hungary.

We got off to a good start with a great view of the passenger train from Budapest at this crossing

and a couple hours later we were in front of the gates of our destination in Szarvas

and soon after, touring mini-Hungary, besieged by monsters, thoughtful and otherwise

and explored the many acres of forested open space

and even discovered some natural playgrounds

and some mighty impressive works of Nature

 and Hungarians alike

Ready for some Tucker we found a traditional etterem

along a canal? - or otherwise body of water, a very pleasant stop

 with something for everyone

and after one more stop at a local mansion

 with some nature trails

we made the long trip back and my wife thrilled me with her blossoming moving photography skills

which ended the day on a most harmonious note.
