Balaton, Day Two

This day we determined would be spent at Tihany, the town containing the monastery seen in the distance here, which is located on the uvula of the Balaton

and so we wandered down the shoreline past some watchful locals

making our way to the docks where the ferry boats come in, thinking we may hitch a ferry ride across.

After some quiet deliberation we ended up driving to Tihany and began walking its enchanting streets

 past more amazing shopping opportunities

to the crest of the hill whereupon lies the monastery itself

acquired our tickets and so achieved the interior

witnessing this gilded organ dating back hundreds of years

and these children, dating back a few years.

Finally we were ejected through the gift shop chute and into the cafe, perched in such a location as not to be refused.

And so found lunch as it happens there

and headed for the beach, a somewhat anticipated destination since our departure. Anticipated over and over again.  The water was chilling due to the time of year, but that did not deter us from our duty.

After hours of playing around on the beach and catching little fish along the rock jetty, we ate a nice dinner along the shore and ambled back home by way of the park

and old section of the town - this being the past and present hospital.

In the town square is this well dispensing mineral water - the kids call it 'spicy'.

This is one of those kids -

and some more of the magnificent houses around

and available property, to the right buyer.
